It seems a whole lot of people have lost their sense of humor.

If you’ve seen the recent Dr. Pepper ad on Facebook, you know what I’m talking about. The ad, posted earlier this month, shows an ape who evolves into a man after drinking a can of Dr. Pepper.

The ad attracted 26,000 “likes” and 4,000 comments. But not all of the comments were positive. Some people declared themselves to be creationists and vowed to boycott Dr. Pepper. One person demanded an apology for the apparent support of evolution.

I don’t believe in the theory of evolution. I do believe God created the universe. In fact, I believe it takes more faith to say humanity evolved from a single cell into a fish into an ape into a man over millions of years, than it takes to believe God created the universe for His glory and our enjoyment.

But it’s just a tongue-in-cheek ad. I doubt any evolutionists believe Dr. Pepper contributed to the development of humanity, no matter how much they might like the brand of soda. One could even make the case that the ad actually mocks the theory of evolution.

I don’t drink Dr. Pepper – because of the taste, not because of the ad.
And I don’t see this ad as an attack on my beliefs.

Thanks for keeping it light, Ava. I don’t care for Dr. Pepper’s taste either, but I would not be turned aside by this ad. Even if they agree with the idea of evolution, that’s their right in the USA. I pray this freedom continues, so we can keep practicing our faith openly.

Love your post and love Dr. Pepper Cherry flavor. Don’t think evolution is working in my case as many parts are breaking down, probably due to the phosphoric acid in it that leeches calcium from bones. Maybe I should give up my Dr. Pepper. Haven’t seen the ad.
