Did I get your attention with that title? Good. Keep reading!

The furor over Chick-Fil-A has grown to epic proportions. Who would have thought the simple matter of a CEO expressing his support for the biblical model of marriage would result in expressions of rage, boycotts, and pronouncements by government officials that Chick-Fil-A is not welcome in their cities.

One graphic floating around the internet captures the irony—and hypocrisy—of the situation:

“So, you stopped eating at Chick-Fil-A because the CEO
of the company thinks that homosexuality is wrong.
Tell me, when are you going to stop buying gasoline because the owners of OPEC put homosexuals to death?”

Still, the bright spot in all this is the groundswell of support for Chick-Fil-A from the Christian community. A Chick-Fil-A Appreciation Day has been declared for August 1, 2012. Which brings me to the title of this post.

Don’t Eat at Chick-Fil-A on August 1.

Don’t get me wrong. I do support their stance. But…

Hundreds of thousands, if not millions, of people will descend on their restaurants in one day. Even with the best of intentions, tempers will flare, food will run out, and customer service may suffer.

Instead…consider eating at Chick-Fil-A on a regular basis. Add it to your weekly fast-food rotation. Use them to cater your next get-together. Extend them your business long after August 1 is a forgotten memory.

If we’re serious about supporting companies who espouse biblical principles, we need to do it on more than one day.

So go ahead…eat at Chick-Fil-A on August 1st if you must. But let that be the first of many, many visits. That’s the way to send a real message.

Joey and I were thinking the same thing. We don’t waamorous get stuck in a mob scene and we want to support them all year round.

    Ava,

LOL! You did get my attention! Good job!

I wholeheartedly agree with the on-going support. It is my privilege to support Chik-fil-a tomorrow. Personally, I hope I have to wait in a very long line. If they run out of food, I will cheer because it will mean they had a very good day! By the way, I will have to drive almost an hour to get to the closest Chik-fil-a.

I agree with what you are saying. However, if we will go to Chik-fil-a today with the expectation that we may not be able to eat, the lines will be long and the crowdes may be crazy, we will still make a statement that we are American’s and have had enough of the bullying by the PC bunch. They need to see that there are many people left that are willing to stand up and be counted. I’m going to go get in line. I’ll take my lunch just in case.

    Ava,
I got at Chick-Fil-A at 11am, there were quite a few people there already, I placed my order and was served fairly quick. I sat in their dining room to eat and by the time I was done the place was packed. I go out to my car and had a hard time trying to leave because the drive-thru line was so long. However, when people realized I was trying to leave, they quickly made room for me to exit. I can understand what you meant as I’m certain by now the lines must be terrific, I am sure that Chick-Fil-A will do everything they can to accomodate everyone as swiftly as they possibly can and hopefully, everyone will realize it may take a little longer today because so many people want too show their support. I do plan on adding Chick-Fil-A to my weekly schedule, so I will be a regular there.

I do eat at Chick-Fil-A. In fact, I saw several of my regular friends there today at noon. No one seems upset; quite the opposite. Lots of smiles and friendly greetings. Servers were awesome. People wiped off their tables for the next customers; no one seemed to just hange around but eat and got out so others could sit. It was a great experience in Stuart, Florida. It always is in this particular restaurant.
